Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. Polyethylene terephthalate is a polymer that is formed by combining two monomers called modified ethylene glycol and purified terephthalic acid.

PET Plastic is a very important raw material used in man-made fibers. PET is a lightweight form of clear polyester and also a very strong material. Being a polymer, polyethylene terephthalate's molecules consist of long chains of repeating units only containing the carbon (C), oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H) organic elements.

In world’s total PET production, 60% is for synthetic fibers with bottle production accounting for around 30% of global demand.

In textile applications PET is generally referred as "polyester".

PET Blow molding or PET blow moulding is a manufacturing process used in the plastics and polymers industries in which hollow plastic parts are formed. PET Blow Molding is a Process of inflating a hot, hollow, thermoplastic perform or parison inside a closed mold so its shape conforms to that of the mold cavity. A typical blow molding machine set-up uses an extruded plastic preform and compressed air to fill the chamber of a divided mold. The two halves of the mold separate and the finished container is released.

A wide variety of hollow parts, including plastic bottles, can be produced from many different plastics using blow moulding process. Plastic beverage bottles and fuel tanks are commonly created through blow molding.

There are three main types of blow molding;

1. Extrusion Blow Molding - The Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM) process begins with the conventional extrusion of a parison or tube, using a die similar to that used for making plastic pipe.

1. Injection Blow Molding - The process of Injection Blow Molding (IBM) is used for the production of hollow glass and plastic objects in large quantities. Injection blow molding is a two stage process since the parison is produced in a separate operation.

1. Stretch Blow Molding - In the Stretch Blow Molding (SBM) process, a preform, or parison, elongated mechanically in the mold and than expanded radially in a blowing process. A desirable resulting molecular orientation yields a material with increased strength. This means that products that are strength-based designs can be produced using less material than if they were to be produced using simpler blow molding techniques.
